Mentoring is an intentional relationship of learning, growing, and reflecting between an experienced minister and an emerging leader (you). It is an indispensable learning tool for those exploring a calling to ministry or Christian service.
We offer Recommended Reading for Mentors on this website. And, be sure to check out the Mentoring Guide section of The Discovery, which provides the information you need to begin a mentoring relationship.
Other ideas and options related to Mentoring include:
- Shadowing – An incredibly simple and practical learning tool for anyone thinking about ministry. A person who wants to learn more about ministry “shadows” an experienced minister – going with them and observing them through their daily tasks. Shadowing may be one of the most valuable learning tools for an emerging leader.
- Internships – In a way, internships are a longer and more committed version of shadowing. They allow an emerging leader to work independently (under supervision) to develop practical skills and experience. Funding may sometimes be available depending on the proposed internship.
